The name "Modanto" is a portmanteau of the Japanese words for “modern” and “tradition,” “modan” (モダン) and “dento” (伝統) -- fitting for a physical mash-up of the two dining experiences.
The logomark is also a mix. The top character is "tomo" (共), which means "both." The bottom character is "ni" (二), which means "two". The combined characters create a symbol that resembles traditional Japanese architecture, aligning well with our mission of bringing families together, all under one roof.
And just like the branding bridges a generational divide, the menu speaks to both old and new. The menu is distinctly separated into two, with one side listing modern choices and the other listing traditional.
